Bezhlavý jezdec

Reflexe českého umění devadesátých let se dnes pohybuje v ambivalenci mezi dlouhým časem konce státního socialismu a krátkým časem postkomunistické transformace. Skupina Bezhlavý jezdec na sedm let „spojila v různosti“ trajektorie čtyř výrazných uměleckých individualit — Josefa Bolfa, Jána Mančušky, Jana Šerých a Tomáše Vaňka. Tato první monografie skupiny přináší rozsáhlý soubor dosud nepublikovaných uměleckých prací a dokumentů, stejně jako obsáhlý rozhovor s autory a uměleckohistorický esej propojující jejich tvorbu s kulturními dynamikami doby i jejich současnou reflexí.

Contemporary reflections on Czech art of the 1990s oscillate ambivalently between the long temporality of the end of state socialism and the shorter temporality of the post-communist transformation. “United in diversity,” for seven years the group Bezhlavý jezdec (Headless Rider) merged the trajectories of four distinct artists – Josef Bolf, Ján Mančuška, Jan Šerých and Tomáš Vaněk. The first monograph on the group, this publication brings together an extensive collection of previously unpublished artworks and documents, a comprehensive interview with the artists and an art-historical essay connecting their work with the cultural dynamics of the time and contemporary reflections on the period.
